We practice Yoshinkan Aikido↗ a Japanese martial art with a carefully structured training system that emphasises a stable stance and precise technique. It’s about self‑control, focus and respect – a workout for both resilience and physical condition.
During practice we emphasise accuracy, gradual development and working together. We start with simple exercises that build solid basics – including ukemi, the art of falling safely – and then move into more dynamic situations where we learn to react naturally and confidently. This makes training demanding yet safe and open to absolute beginners as well as advanced students.
Our dojo’s name, Shinwakan (親和館), translates as a place of harmony and mutual understanding. We adopted it on the suggestion of Joe Thambu Shihan↗ to honour the legacy of Kyoichi Inoue Kancho↗, who used the same name for his dojo. For us it’s both a gesture of trust and a commitment to practise honestly, respect our teaching lineage and treat each other with respect.

Teachers we follow
We’re fortunate to learn from highly respected figures in Yoshinkan Aikido. We regularly attend seminars at home and abroad – including the summer camp at Jizerka ↗ - where we train under Ondřej Musil Shihan, Joe Thambu Shihan and Robert Mustard Shihan. We appreciate their guidance, generosity with knowledge and individual approach to every student.
